The Les Vergelesses climat sits at the top of a slope, which is rare for the area. It shares similarities with climats in Pernand-Vergelesses. The name comes from the Old French Vergelle, meaning a small stick or branch, referring to the ancient practice of cultivating fields in long, narrow strips. The name was recorded in 1234 in the Martyrologe de Notre-Dame de Beaune.
Vinification
Long, gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by overnight settling
Alcoholic fermentation partially in stainless steel vats, then transferred into barrels (15% new) for malolactic fermentation
Aged for 12 months in barrels, then racked into stainless steel vats and aged for another 6 months before bottling.
